Biography

Anne Kuite is a dance lecturer in the FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC, teaching beginning modern dance, composition, improvisation and somatic movement classes for students across the university.  She collaborates frequently with Frost Opera Theater as choreographer, and she also leads classes and workshops in movement for singers.

Ms. Kuite has created choreography for the Frost Opera Theater productions “Jackie O” (2014), “The Magic Flute” (2013), and “Beatrice Bends for Her Blue Ball” (2009). In addition, her choreography has been performed at MoMing Dance and Arts Center (Chicago), the Southern Theater (Minneapolis), Gusman Hall (Coral Gables) and Bearnstow Dance Center (Parker Pond, ME).  As a performer, Ms Kuite has danced with the American Heritage Dancers folk company, the Peoria Civic Ballet, and throughout the Chicago area with Akasha, Lynda Martha, and Robin Lakes Rough Dance companies. New York performances have included appearances at the Merce Cunningham Studio and the Gang Gallery/SoHo.

Ms. Kuite’s teaching career began in Illinois with dance positions at New Trier, Mather, and Lyons Township High Schools, and faculty positions at Millikin University and Harper College.  In addition to her dance career, she has served in executive arts and events management positions at The Joyce Theater, Wave Hill, and The Graduate Center/CUNY in New York City.  She holds a B.S. in Dance Education from Illinois State University and an M.F.A. in Dance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She is also a nationally Certified Pilates Teacher through the Pilates Method Alliance, and teaches group and individual Pilates at the Herbert Wellness Center. Aside from her other activities, Ms. Kuite manages a busy private practice of fitness and special needs Pilates-based neuromuscular reeducation in Coral Gables.
