Biography

Robert Remek is a lecturer in organ performance in the FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC. Dr. Remek has been a professional church musician in South Florida for over 35 years, serving as Director of Music and Organist for both Roman Catholic and Protestant congregations. He is currently the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood.  He has previously served as Dean of the Fort Lauderdale chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In addition to his teaching in the FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC, Dr. Remek is also Associate Professor Senior of Humanities at the North Campus of Miami Dade College.

Dr. Remek was honored to be one of two official organists to play for the visit of Pope John Paul II to Miami in 1987. He also performed as part of the summer concert series of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. in 2007.

Professor Remek has earned three performance degrees from the FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC. He earned a B.M. degree in piano performance, studying with George Roth and J.B. Floyd. He also studied harpsichord with Frank Cooper. He earned a M.M. degree in choral conducting, studying with Lee Kjelson and Don Oglesby, and a D.M.A. in organ performance, studying with Warren Canfield and Kenon Renfrow. He also studied with Dr. Arden Whitacre.
