Assistant Dean of Students

Dean Kinney oversees the Student Affairs Crisis Coordinators program, serves as a judicial officer, and is the department’s liaison to athletics. Additionally, he advises the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. and the Graduate Students Association. Dean Kinney previously worked with Florida International University’s (FIU) Graduation Success Initiative (GSI). During his tenure, GSI won the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities’ award for Most Visible Progress in Degree Completion. Prior to FIU, Dean Kinney worked at Loyola University Chicago, where he delivered a comprehensive academic advising program. At Loyola, he was among a select group of faculty and staff chosen to travel abroad on a university-funded immersion trip to Kenya and Tanzania. Dean Kinney earned a master’s degree in Higher Education (Student Affairs) from Indiana University. He began his career in higher education at the University of Illinois, where he counseled student athletes, and juggled multiple administrative responsibilities on home football game days.
