Aaron Royer, Senior Instructional Designer on the Learning Innovation and Faculty Engagement team, works on faculty-development initiatives which are related to the goals laid out in UM's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and, on a more general level, help grow a culture of pedagogical innovation at UM. As an example, he is currently developing faculty learning communities focused on Flipped Classrooms and Discussion-Based Teaching - both priorities in the QEP.

Prior to joining UMIT, Aaron spent two years at Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas (Brazil) as a U.S. State Department English Language Fellow. In addition to developing, coordinating, and teaching in a new English language program at his host institution, he worked on numerous faculty-development initiatives throughout Brazil, ranging from conference workshops to faculty development communities to online professional-development modules for K-12 English teachers. Aaron earned his Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the University of South Florida, where he also completed a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Technology.
