Ms. Martin joined the University of Miami Counseling Center in 2010. She has extensive experience treating children and adolescents who have been both victims and perpetrators of sexual trauma. Her clinical interests include helping individuals cope with trauma experienced through physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. She completed her Master of Social Work Degree from Indiana University and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2007. Additional areas of clinical interest include coping with grief and loss, healthy relationship development, and transitional life challenges. Ms. Martin's goal with counseling University of Miami students is to assist them in realizing their full potential within each realm of their lives. Her approach to therapy is to identify strengths and collaborate with students to assist them in meeting their needs. In addition to providing therapy services, Ms. Martin oversees the University of Miami Counseling Center’s Outreach Services. The Center’s outreach workshops and program initiatives are delivered to faculty, staff and students with a goal to reduce mental health stigma, provide community clinical intervention through teaching coping skills, connect the campus community with Counseling Center resources, and increase awareness of common college mental health stressors. She also manages and advises the volunteer peer education program (COPE). Ms. Martin is actively involved in campus leadership groups and Co-Chairs the University of Miami President’s Campus Coalition on Sexual Violence Prevention and Education.
