About

Marika Formoso, Assistant General Counsel, joined the General Counsel’s Office in 2019. Prior to joining the University, Ms. Formoso represented the University as outside legal counsel at the law firm of Formoso-Murias, P.A. in Miami, Florida, where she focused primarily on real estate, corporate, business law, transactional and commercial litigation matters.

Ms. Formoso received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law, a Master of Arts degree in English from King’s College, University of London and a Bachelor of Science  degree from Georgetown University’s School of Languages and Linguistics.

Prior to law school, Ms. Formoso began her legal career with the law firm of Ropes & Gray, LLP’s Boston office where she served as head paralegal in the Private Client Group.

Ms. Formoso is a member of the Florida Bar, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and was admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. She is also a member of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers.

Ms. Formoso has also served as President of the Mashta Island Association and the Gables by the Sea Homeowners Association. She served on the Board of Directors of the Georgetown Club of Miami, served on Georgetown University’s Third Century Campaign Committee and Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart’s Parent Council. Ms. Formoso currently serves on the Parent Council to the President of the Rhode Island School of Design.
