Margie Jimenez, MA, CRA, is the Assistant Chair in the Department of Public Health Sciences and its centers at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Mrs. Jimenez is responsible for designing and implementing business operations, overseeing the operations and work of directors, and establishing policies that promote the culture and vision of the department and its centers. She reports to the Interim Chair and is a key member of the executive committee.

As an experienced and efficient leader, Mrs. Jimenez has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, business acumen, an exemplary work ethic, and aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.

In her roles, Mrs. Jimenez secures the functionality of the business of the department and its centers to drive significant and sustainable growth, while also expanding its public health footprint in education, the Miami community, and abroad. She thus develops new initiatives, designs and implements business strategies, plans and procedures, sets comprehensive goals for the performance of directors, as well as leads the implementation of policies and improvements.

Mrs. Jimenez also oversees the daily operations and work of graduate programs, finance, administration, faculty affairs, information technology, human resources, grants and contracts, facilities, and legal affairs within the department and its centers. Moreover, she encourages maximum performance and dedication of employees and evaluates performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.

In all matters of the department and its centers, Mrs. Jimenez writes and submits reports to the Interim Chair and to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Leadership.

Additionally, Mrs. Jimenez assists the Interim Chair in strategically planning for fundraising, as well as in leading and participating in the expansion of activities, such as investments, new initiatives, seed/ bridge funding, and collaborations across the institution, locally and abroad. 

Through her current and previous leadership roles, she has proven experience in overseeing day-to-day business functions. She demonstrates competency in strategic planning and business development and has a working knowledge of running data analysis and performance metrics, information technology systems, and infrastructure.

Mrs. Jimenez is a Certified Research Administrator, has a Bachelor of Arts in both Liberal Studies and Religious Studies from Florida International University, and a Master in Administrative Medicine and Business Management from the Medical University of South Carolina. In 2018, Mrs. Jimenez earned a Public Health Graduate Certificate from the University of South Florida.
