Biography
Dr. Susanne Doblecki-Lewis is a Professor of Clinical Medicine and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Miami and an infectious diseases clinician in the Jackson Memorial Hospital and University of Miami. Her clinical and research focus is on improving access to HIV and infectious disease prevention strategies for underserved populations. As the Chief of the Infectious Diseases Division, she leads the 34 faculty physicians at the University of Miami and has a pivotal role in directing the University’s clinical care, research, and response to COVID-19, HIV, mpox, and other infectious disease challenges.
Dr. Doblecki-Lewis founded and directs the University of Miami Mobile PrEP Program and the UM Rapid Access Wellness Clinic, which provide HIV, sexually transmitted infection, and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for prevention of HIV services at locations throughout Miami-Dade County since 2018. In 2021, this program expanded to also include rapid entry into HIV care, ensuring that people newly diagnosed with HIV or re-engaging in care are able to start antiretroviral treatment within hours to days of their diagnosis. The Mobile PrEP Program has served over 1800 clients, many of whom would not have been able to access PrEP through traditional clinic pathways due to challenges such as cost, lack of insurance, transportation, and immigration status. -
