An Assistant Professor of Clinical, Susan Prather completed her Doctorate degree in Education (Ed.D) at Grambling State University, Grambling, Louisiana, she earned a Master’s degree in Nursing (M.S) and a Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN), from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia. Dr. Prather’s primary teaching areas are Medical/ Surgical Nursing, Fundamentals of Nursing Practice, Pharmacology in Nursing, Nursing Process, Nursing Theory, Concepts, Research, Leadership and Management, Psychiatric Nursing, Women and Childbearing, Pediatric Nursing, Multiculturalism in Nursing and varied RN bridge and articulation programs of nursing. Dr. Prather practiced nursing for over 30 years in varied areas of nursing: Critical Care, Cardiac Telemetry, Medical/Surgical Nursing, Emergency Care, Pediatrics, Mother-Baby Units, and Mental Health. Dr. Prather has taught for 12 years in diverse educational programs of nursing: Associate (Generic, and LPN-RN), Baccalaureate (Generic, 2+2, RN-BSN). Dr. Prather served over 20 years in the United States Army Nurse Corps. In various positions: Field Nurse, Head Nurse (ICU) and Assistant Chief Nurse, Clinic Coordinator, Credentialing Officer, Medical Support Advisor, Code Blue Coordinator, Continuing Education Coordinator, Combat Lifesaver Instructor, Security Clearance Officer, Equal Opportunity Officer, Weight Control Officer, and Remedial Physical Training Officer. Dr. Prather spent 2 years in Guam, where she taught international students at the University of Guam, Barrigada, Guam. In addition, Dr. Prather served as President and Owner of Nursing Educational Services for 20 years.
