About

Dr. Thompson has been a Lecturer in the University of Miami Political Science Department for over 25 years.  She specializes in multiple areas of American Government -- and brings practical experience with government, politics, media and interest groups into the classroom.

She was Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida, Public Information Officer of the Urban League of Greater Miami, Director of the Institute of Government at Florida International University, Public Information Officer for Switchboard of Miami and City Desk Researcher at The Miami Herald.  In addition, she owned Thompson Communications, doing media and communications work, as well as grant writing, for a variety of local governments and private non-profit organizations in the Miami-Dade County area.
