Nathaniel Deyo holds a B.A. in English from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, where he specialized in film and media studies. At UM, he teaches courses in the First Year Writing sequence, coordinates the Dissertation Writing Group, and is currently Assistant Director of the Writing Center. He has also taught writing for the Department of Computer Science and led a First-Year Seminar focusing on media theory. His research interests include genre studies, film/media aesthetics, videographic criticism, multimodal composition, and experimental pedagogy. He is the author of Film Noir and the Possibilities of Hollywood (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020).
