Biography
Dhananjay Nanda is a vice-dean of faculty and research and professor of accounting at the Miami Herbert Business School. He teaches Managerial Accounting, Strategic Control and Financial Reporting, and Leadership issues in Control. He taught managerial accounting, cost and control systems at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business from 2002-2008 and the University of Michigan Business School from 1997-2002.
His research focuses on the incentive aspects of performance evaluation and compensation systems as they relate to corporate financial reporting and disclosure activities. His recent research focuses on accounting information’s role in resolving uncertainty about managerial ability, the role of boards of directors in affecting managerial incentives in both public and non-profit firms, and managers’ voluntary disclosure behavior. DJ’s research has been presented at numerous universities, international and national conferences and has been published in the Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Accounting Studies and the Journal of Operations Management.
Nanda won several research and teaching awards and his work has been recognized internationally. He has also been involved in consulting engagements at a number of domestic and international firms. He has taught in executive education programs at Indian School of Business, Seoul National University, INSEAD, FGV and University of Munich.
