Lisa Reid earned her Ph.D. in Language & Literacy from the University of South Carolina, where she also completed an M.A.T. in Secondary English Education. She received her B.A. in English from The Ohio State University. Her teaching and research interests include writing studies, critical literacies, culturally responsive pedagogy, and critical race theory. Currently, Lisa teaches ENG 106, which focuses on examining and utilizing diverse literacies to raise critical consciousness of belonging, diversity, and social justice. Prior to joining the University of Miami’s Writing Studies faculty, Lisa taught college courses in composition, literature, business writing, and teacher education as well as high school English in South Carolina. She also participated as a partner and site coordinator for several years with Freedom Readers, a non-profit after school and summer literacy program designed and implemented to support families in low-income areas.
