Valerie Gramling earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Massachusetts in 2013, and has an M.A. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University (2005). She teaches ENG 105 and 106. Her essay "Flesche withowtyn hyde" will appear in the forthcoming collection Flaying in the Premodern World: Practice and Representation (Boydell & Brewer, 2016). Before joining the Composition faculty, Valerie spent two years as the Senior Academic Advisor for undeclared students in Arts and Sciences at UM, and in a much earlier life spent many years working in professional theatre as a director, writer, and stage manager.
