About Me
Rick Urban is a film composer, music producer, and performer. He is a graduate of the Frost School of Music’s Media Scoring and Production program at The University of Miami.His most recent projects include composing the score for the feature film Groupers, which premiered at the Cinequest film festival and won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at Film Invasion L.A. in 2019. His additional music can be heard on Amazon Prime in the films Dusk and Jacob’s Paradox. He also composed trailer music for the 2018 Netflix film The Titan.
In 2016, Rick's music was featured in NBC's production of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He has had numerous television placements on such networks as FOX, NBC, MTV, Fox Sports, NBC Sports, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and Netflix. His production music can be heard internationally in television shows such as The Block, Back with the Ex, My Kitchen Rules, The Voice, and National Geographic’s Weird But True, which is currently streaming on Disney +.
Rick has Master's Degrees in Film Composition and Music Production from The Frost School of Music and Columbia College Chicago. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance from The New England Conservatory in Boston. He spent several years in Los Angeles, where he worked for and interned with many film composers including Reinhold Heil, Kim Planert, and Henry Jackman. He also participated in the Society of Composers and Lyricists mentorship program.
Rick is also Co-Host of the Hooked on Score Podcast, which features long-form interviews with film composers and music supervisors.
