Dr. Jorge Suarez, is an aquaculture nutritionist with a proven track record of excellence in research and development of aquafeeds. Feeds represent by far the highest production/operating costs of any aquaculture operations (up to 50-70%). He is an accomplished and experienced scientist whose research focuses on the quality, cost and performance of feeds for commercially important cultured species of fish and crustaceans. He has been a consultant to large feed manufacturing companies and to commercial operations small and large.

He has over 20 years experience in aquaculture worldwide. His investigations at the University of Miami are focused in developing practical diets for marine fish of high commercial value.  He has published several articles as it relates to the nutritional requirement and substitution of fish meal with alternative protein sources for marine fish and the white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei.
