About
Dr. Chakeia Andrews joined the faculty at the University of Miami in 2022. She attended the University of Miami where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and African American Studies. She went on to Nova Southeastern University and earned a Master of Science degree in Reading Education and a doctorate degree in Educational and Organizational Leadership. Driven by her passion to increase literacy development, she takes pride in engaging and motivating people. She was honored by Legacy magazine as a Top Black Educator 2021.

Dr. Andrews completed her Masters in Reading Education at Nova Southeastern University in 2007 and worked as a Reading Coach, Reading Specialist for the Florida Department of Education, Bureau of School Improvement. She earned an Ed.D in Educational and Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University in 2017. Dr. Andrews’ research centers on effective vocabulary instruction to increase student comprehension in K-12 settings, particularly in their content area classes. She began her career as a teacher in MDCPS. She has also worked in the capacity as a Curriculum Support Specialist.
