About

James M. Bond is the Associate Dean, Finance and Administration and Lecturer in Law. Mr. Bond’s administrative functions include all financial aspects of the law school including budgeting, capital planning, forecasting/financial modeling, internal controls and long-term planning.  He also administers the human resources and facilities functions of the school.  Appointed Lecturer in Law in 2017, Mr. Bond co-teaches the Financial Accounting for Lawyers law course which prepares future lawyers to use financial accounting information in the evaluation of corporate performance.

He joined the School of Law in August 2011 with over 20 years of management experience in Higher Education, Public Accounting, Retail and the Cruise industries.  Mr. Bond has worked with both Carnival Corporation and plc and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, the two largest cruise companies in the world. He held positions in Treasury and Credit Operations and was responsible for identifying and implementing many cost savings and best practice initiatives across several operating cruise brands. He also worked with for Sunglass Hut International in their corporate headquarters in Coral Gables where he held roles of International Finance Manager and Cash Management Manager.  These roles involved implementation of the latest retail technology in over 1,500 store locations, integration of acquired companies/store locations, performance of finance functions of international locations and assisting in the management of debt facilities.  As the Controller for Florida International University, he helped FIU successfully migrate to Peoplesoft Financial systems from the State University System, which included the redesign and strengthening of internal controls across the University and improved reporting of the financial condition of the University to the Board of Trustees.  

As an Audit Manager with Deloitte & Touche, one of the world’s largest public accounting firms, he gained exposure to Higher Education administration by overseeing the audit for Barry University. In addition to serving on audits of several large banking institutions in South Florida, Mr. Bond served as a consultant to senior management on many engagements.

Mr. Bond holds a B.A. in Accounting and M.A. in Accounting, with a concentration in accounting information systems, from Florida International University (FIU). He has been a Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 1990. He is married and has three daughters.  Born and raised in South Florida, he currently resides in Schenley Park.
