Juan M. Gonzalez, DNP, APRN, AGACNP-BC, ENP-C, FNP-BC, CEN, CNE, is Associate Professor of Clinical at the University of Miami School of Nursing (SONHS) and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) at the emergency department (ED) of Baptist Health South Florida. He obtained his associate in science of nursing (ADN) from Miami Dade College and his ADN-to-BSN degree at Barry University. Dr. Gonzalez completed his MSN and DNP degrees at Barry University from 2009 to 2013, concentrating on adult-gerontology acute care. In 2015, he completed his Post-Master Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Miami. Dr. Gonzalez is a triple board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in Family, Emergency, and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care. Additionally, he is a certified nurse educator (CNE) and emergency nurse (CEN). In 2020, Dr. Gonzalez completed a leadership fellowship from Duke Johnson and Johnson.

Dr. Gonzalez is deeply committed to nursing education at both graduate and undergraduate levels, earning the 2011 Clinical Faculty Teaching Excellence Award and 2013, 2016, and 2021 Teacher of the Year Awards from the SONHS and selected as Graduate Director of the Year at the University of Miami in 2019. In 2022, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) due to his dedication to the global advancement of the nurse practitioner (NP) role and outstanding contributions to NP education and clinical practice.

Dr. Gonzalez is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, American Association of Emergency Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau International. He has published peer-reviewed articles about health promotion and disease prevention, emergency nursing, point-of-care ultrasound, simulation, and global health.
