About

Bio

Jennifer M. Connolly is a public management scholar with a focus on local governance. Her research is motivated by a desire to understand how local governments can best serve the interests of their residents through their management structure, their policies, and the services they provide. Dr. Connolly’s research centers on three broad themes. First, she examines local government management, specifically the principal-agent relationship between elected councils and appointed managers. Second, she studies municipal service provision and resource allocation. Third, she examines communication between local governments and their residents about current policy issues and how residents view these issues.

Dr. Connolly received her PhD in Public Policy and Management from the Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California in 2014. She currently teaches undergraduate and MPA courses, both traditional and online. She was selected as the 2018 Educator of the Year for South Florida by the American Society for Public Administration and was awarded the 2018 Excellence in Civic Engagement Faculty Award. When Dr. Connolly is not teaching, writing, or advising students, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, Pilates, cooking, and baking.
