Dean McDowell joined the Dean’s Office in Summer 2019 as the Assistant Dean of Students and Title IX Investigator. She is the Office’s lead contact and primary recipient for student conduct issues involving sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, intimate partner/relationship violence, stalking, and related matters. In addition, she leads the Division of Student Affairs’ educational and preventative efforts on sexual misconduct and gender discrimination. Dean McDowell graduated from the University of Central Florida, where she received her B.S. in Interpersonal/Organizational Communications. She earned her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law, and is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar. No stranger to working in higher education, Dean McDowell brings a breadth of experience from both public and private institutions, including Florida International University, Duke University School of Law, and North Carolina Central University. Prior to UM, she served as the Title IX/EEO Specialist at FIU. Dean McDowell also previously practiced employment law in the private sector. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
